How to Search

Sparkmesh has a bit more information about its links than a full-blown search engine. This allows it to offer some extra search options to help you find what you need even faster.

Don't worry! You can still search for matching links by typing a phrase, just like you would on a search engine. But there's a lot more power under the hood if you want it.

Basic Search Types

Normal link search

Just enter a phrase, such as artist and title, for a list of matching links sorted by relevance.

Direct search

If you enter a single artist, tag, or playlist name, Sparkmesh will match it and take you directly to the page. Sparkmesh does not go directly to title pages unless forced (see below) because it was causing frequent misdirection of artist-title link searches.

Force Search Type

Force link search (l:/link: search)

To force a link search, enter l: or link: followed by your link search.

Artist search (a:/artist: artist name)

Enter an artist name. If Sparkmesh can't match it, you'll see a list of the closest results and have the option to create the artist's page yourself.

Title search (t:/title: search title)

Enter a title. If Sparkmesh can't match it, you'll see a list of the closest results.

Tag search (ta:/tag: search tag)

Enter a tag. If Sparkmesh can't match it, you'll see a list of the closest results.

Playlist search (p:/playlist: playlist name)

Enter a playlist name.

Event search (e:/event:/events: artist name)

Enter e: , event: , or events: followed by an artist name.

Genre search (g:/genre: genre name)

Enter g: or genre: followed by a genre name to see threads in the genre.

Comment thread search (th:/thread:/threads: thread title)

Enter th: , thread: , or threads: followed by a comment thread title.

Filtering

Site filter (si:/site: site name)

Enter si: or site: followed by a site name along with your search. Sparkmesh will match partial site names, so for example searching for "sp" will match Spotify.

Content filter (c:/content: content type)

Enter c: or content: followed by a content type along with your search. Sparkmesh will match partial content names, so for example searching for "mu" will match the "music video" content type.

Date filter (d:/date: date)

Enter d: or date: followed by a date along with your search. You can search for a specific year, or see links from the last 1 Day/1 Week/1 Month/1 Year.

Posted filter (po:/posted:)

Enter po: or posted: followed by a time posted along with your search. Options range from 1 Hour to 1 Month.

Unfilter (unfilter)

Enter "unfilter" at the end of your search to remove all current filters.

Sorting

Date sort (s:d/sort: date)

Enter s:d or sort: date along with your search to see results sorted by date (this is also the default.)

New sort (s:n/sort: new)

Enter s:n or sort: new along with your search to see the most recently added links.

Hot sort (s:h/sort: hot)

Enter s:h or sort: hot along with your search to see the most popular links. Add a time interval (1 Hour to 1 Month) if desired.

Title sort (s:t/sort: title)

Enter s:t or sort: title along with your search to sort links by title.

Recent sort (s:r/sort: recent)

Enter s:r or sort: recent along with your search to see your recently clicked links.

Following

Following (f:/follow: artist name)

Enter f: or follow: then an artist name to follow the artist.

Unfollowing (u:/unfollow: artist name)

Enter u: or unfollow: then an artist name to unfollow the artist.

Quick Goto

Artist index (i:/index: artist name)

Type i: or index: followed by the first letter of the artist's name.

My Artists

m/my artists

h/home

Recent

r/recent
