You can more or less pinpoint the moment that Eslabon Armado became bona fide stars of the new wave of corridos. That happened just before the release of this album, the first of three projects from the Californian group unleashed over the course of 2020, when their viral single “Con Tus Besos” began its ascent up the Latin charts. Once Tu Veneno Mortal dropped, success was a foregone conclusion for the California project led by teenage singer-songwriter Pedro Tovar. He shows a flair for the romantic on the sentimental yet sincere “Baby,” as well as an intimate familiarity with heartbreak on “Tres de la Mañana.”
