Rayland Baxter played two nights at Tap Root. They were both really good shows, with a few solo songs near the middle of the shows. Personally I was not familiar with Rayland Baxter before seeing the posters. I bought his latest CD, "Imaginary Man" to get ready for the show. (I do kike that CD better than "Feathers and Fishhooks", his earlier CD). Rayland did not disappoint! He displayed the comfort of an experienced musician; Rayland and his band put on a great weekend of entertainment; two nights each 2 hours.. My only compliant is that the crowd was too noisy. People this is a unique opportunity to see a national act right in Anchorage...no travel required.(I wanted to shout out to "Shut the F*** Up", but even Steve Kimock got some grief when He did that, and I am just another fan. Hope Social Club opened on Saturday. The sound of this recording may seem a bit off, but it is accurate of the show. The bass was a bit boomy probably due to room acoustics.
