Since striking out on his own as a solo artist, Eden Muñoz has scored hits and recorded collaborative singles with the likes of Fuerza Regida, Junior H, and Michelle Maciel. The former Calibre 50 lead vocalist’s second album since breaking with the norteño group, Como en los Viejos Tiempos evokes a feeling of nostalgia within and beyond its emotive title track. A distinct wistfulness accompanies opener “Bye Bye,” while “Hotel el Cid” tells a compelling tale. As expected, the guest list here is a substantial one, boasting songs with El Fantasma, Gerardo Ortiz, and Los Dos Carnales, among others in the current vanguard. Yet, befitting the album’s title, Muñoz also engages with genre veterans, including Cosme Tadeo on “La Nena” and Lalo Mora on “Que la Dejen Ir al Baile Sola.”
