Subject: Absolutely phenomenal!
Subject: Absolutely phenomenal!
Absolutely phenomenal show. One of the best musical experiences of my life.
From the moment the announcer introduced the band, they moved onto the stage, picked up their instruments… And BAM! Show was a 10 out of 10 the entire time. Absolutely blew me away.
We were about eight bodies from the front stage ... the bass was so powerful it felt like it was moving *through* us, lifting us up, vibrating my core. But in a good way. I had professional concert grade ear protection, so my ears were not bothered.
The first song FELT close to 15 minutes. It just kept going… And I never wanted it to end! Each song after that was similar, feeling like three songs in one, and then coming back to the punchline, the main groove. Just magical, warm, thumping, flowing, uplifting, and thrilling jams. I remember thinking while listening "this is the kind of music that could save the world" (as ridiculous as that sounds, that is what it really felt like in that moment).
I don't know that I've ever seen a band so absolutely in sync with each other… So tight. Felt like they must've practiced every single song every single day of their lives. Six musicians completely in line with each other and hitting the exact notes at the right time. Spectacular artistry, amazing music, truly uplifting to see these guys use their instruments like consummate professionals, to hear the flawless sounds they were creating, and aiming at us with smiles on their faces.
Today, thinking it over, I sort of believe that THIS is what my Deadheads and Phish fan friends refer to when they say that their bands music (was/is) just the most beautiful thing in the world, unbelievable talent, lengthy jams, everybody in a great mood and feeling the tunes (funk in this case).
TL;DR: A life-changing concert for me. A++, can't wait to see them again, can't wait to listen to more of their music.
p.s. Wrote this review for myself, but then I found this bootleg of the show ... SO excited to hear it again!
