I'M THE PROBLEM

I'M THE PROBLEM

K. Michelle has been in the industry for over a decade, making a name for herself in R&B as one of the genre's straightest talkers with her shockingly honest and relatable lyrics. However, in 2022, Michelle shocked fans by announcing that she was in the process of creating the sixth and final R&B album of her career, choosing to switch lanes and pursue her dream of having a career in country music. Across the LP's 19 tracks, the Memphis native takes listeners on a journey chronicling her complex relationships through raw and heartfelt lyrics. She's introspective as she reflects on her actions and holds herself accountable ("Blame Yourself"); she's excited about the prospect of finding new love ("Scooch," "Love Language"); she bounces back after heartache ("Hurt Shit," "No Pain"). On the bonus track "Tennessee," Michelle details a story about a breakup due to an abusive partner and, with the guidance of her mother, returns home to start anew. The country-inspired track previews her venture into the genre and introduces her new alter ego, Puddin. I'm the Problem closes the door on Michelle's R&B career, but it also serves as the start of her next chapter.
