On Folking Tech, Hari & Sukhmani’s transformation from folk-fusion to folktronica is complete. They’re still reinterpreting Punjabi folk tunes as on “Kikli”—an electro-pop take on “Bajre Da Sitta”—but these largely instrumental compositions are their most heavily electronic works yet. “Shehnai” is positively trippy, while “Tabla” evokes the spirit of Midival Punditz. There are also new versions of two earlier singles: a ‘Dance Edit’ of “Chann” and a remix of “Challa”, which is closer to its deep house 2020 reworking than its dubstep-influenced iteration from 2012.
