Assembling a body-moving mix is never as easy as it sounds, especially when your mood doesn’t necessarily match what you’re playing. That’s what happened to Atlanta DJ Oshkosh while she was creating this mix ahead of Pride Month. “Honestly, I wasn’t in the best headspace at first,” she tells Apple Music. “I’m in the process of growing and learning about myself more than ever, while trying to channel my creativity in different outlets that make me feel good.” But with the words of Chaka Khan resounding in her head—“Do you love what you feel?”—Oshkosh came out the other side with a sense of personal triumph. “Creating mixes and expanding my DJ career is the best way to express my art,” she says, “and I love the way it makes me feel.” And whatever the listener is feeling, she hopes that the set will be a ride well worth taking: “I really hope this mix conveys that any space you are in mentally, music is a form of therapy—and can help transform a moment or mood you are in. I feel like this mix is a total vibe. I know everyone will relate. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster.”
