Flowers derive their mighty power from their precise balancing act: Singer Rachel Kenedy’s airy soprano wafts over Sam Ayres’ fuzzed-out guitars and Jordan Hockley’s steady drums on tracks such as the tense “Ego Loss” and the rave-up “How Do You Do.” On the brooding “Russian Doll,” a shift to Kenedys lower register completely darkens the band’s mood.
